Crossing this bridge leads to the island.
I don’t have a photo of just the bridge, only the one I took of my mom there. 😂
Cross the bridge and walk to the left.
When we visited in March, it was decorated with "Happy New Year 2024."
But while writing this blog and checking other people's posts, it seems the text there had changed.
The left side is the lake, and the right side is the temple.
It’s Hoan Kiem Lake.
We didn’t visit this temple during our honeymoon, but this time, standing inside the temple and looking out at the lake felt like a completely different experience.
The temple is on the opposite side, captured in the photo of the lake!
This is Ngoc Son Temple!
Next to the temple, there is a small exhibition hall where a massive turtle, about 2 meters long, is preserved.
Hoan Kiem Lake is home to many turtles, which are considered sacred animals due to a legend associated with them. According to the legend, Emperor Le Loi received a magical sword from a turtle during his war against the Ming Dynasty of China, which helped him achieve victory.
Ironically, we don’t have the most important photo. Why? Because we didn’t get to see the turtle. 😭
Even though we paid to visit the temple, we somehow missed the turtle exhibit, and we still can’t figure out why. 😭
